Dayschool Staff Shoot

The staff at the dayschool our daughter attends is very dedicated. We’ve had nothing but good experiences with them and are very happy with how our child is developing there. So, it was a special pleasure to do their staff shoot. They were looking to redo their brochure and website but made it clear they didn’t want to have the standard “mugshot” look most staff shots have. Luckily, the building they use has a beautiful courtyard in the center and we were able to set up there. We also ended up shooting the director of the school in the chapel, which turned out just lovely. I’ve only posted a few of the shots we did, but they were happy and we were happy. In fact, many of the staff ordered reprints to use as for their personal gallery at home!

Beautiful Sisters

These two little girls are the daughters of some very old friends of mine. When they decided to get new pictures done of the girls, I was so happy that they called me. Chad and Debbie dated all throughout school and I’ve known them about as long as I can remember. He’s handsome, she’s beautiful and they have birthed some of the most photogenic children on the planet. Their sons will have their hands full with people wanting to go out with them when they hit the teenage years.

Both of these girls did terrific. We did a very informal studio shoot and started with the baby. Her older sister jumped in about halfway and you can really see how she loves her little sister. I honestly don’t think either child could take a bad picture, even if they tried.

Some of my favorite shooting models are Phillip and Beth. Not only are they close friends but they are currently pregnant with their second child. Recently, I found a great abandoned warehouse downtown and had been dying to take some shots inside. I’m planning on using it for senior shots next year and I wanted to try it out. Luckily, Phillip and Beth were needing some pregnancy pictures while I needed some models. Despite the winter cold, we headed down there a few days ago and got some wonderful shots. I’d taken quite a few pictures of Beth over the past few months, but this shoot was the first time Phillip jumped in. As you can see below he not only photographs well, but he really let his personality out to connect with the camera. Both of them are extremely photogenic and easy to work with. We couldn’t have asked for a better shoot.

Lia and Keenan

Several days ago a friend dropped by who we hadn’t seen in a long time. I’ve known Lia since I was in the 8th grade. We grew up together and have been friends for longer than I can remember. They live about a mile from us and sadly we haven’t seen much of them lately due to everyone’s schedules. It seemed like fate stepped in when they came over right as I was done with a shoot for a client.

Even though it was short notice, Lia let me talk her into a shoot for Keenan. We look at Lia and her daughter, Keenan, as members of our family. We really tried our best to let her naturally friendly personality show on each frame. You can really see how good of a job Lia is doing raising her and how much love is between them. Enjoy!

Last Saturday, I was scheduled to do a model shoot. On the Thursday before, I talked Beth into heading downtown with me and let me shoot her. I needed to test some new equipment I had gotten for the shoot. I’ve wanted to use her as a demo model for quite a while. She’s both beautiful and friendly and that combination always makes a shoot go well. She tried to warn me that she hadn’t done this much before but to the contrary, she was a perfect model and did a terrific job.

Beth is an avid hula-hoop aficianado and was persuaded to bring a hula-hoop downtown with us. Till the day I day I will not forget the looks of the drivers in the cars that went by as she stood in the road and hula-hooped. As you can see below, it was totally worth it.

Last week, our neighbor, whose dog seems to absolutely love me and whom I often find on my front step waiting for me to play with her, needed a few new pictures of her three boys. For the last several years we watched all three boys grow up day by day. Sometimes, when we come home at night, all three will be outside with squirt guns or a inflatable trampoline playing.

When we got the chance to do a informal, studio shoot of the three of them, we jumped at it. All three boys did a great job. Their behaviour was a testament to their mother’s maternal skills and the shoot was over in 10 minutes. We’re very happy how them came out and above all, they are as well.

Vintage Girl

These four shots were taken about 4 months apart. We did them as demo shots several months ago, but hadn’t yet put them up. We’ve been busy finishing post-processing for several recent clients and decided to put these up for now in the interim. We took them several months as promo shots. Juliet is a great model and we’re looking forward to shooting her pictures for years to come.

A couple of weeks ago, we had a great time shooting with Talullah. Talullah is a class-mate of my daughter at daycare. Ranie and I really enjoy watching them play together since they seem to have a great time. Talullah’s parents are some of our favorite people. Phillip and Beth are both extremely intelligent, handsome and beautiful (respectively) and we always look forward to each get together with them. Hopefully, soon we’ll get a few family pics of them in the mix.

We talked Phillip into bringing Talullah with us on a demo shoot downtown and it went as smoothly as any shoot I’ve ever been on. Talullah is not only a wonderful little girl, she is also a consumate actor and performer. If every child shoot went this smoothly, I’d be the envy of every photographer around! She not only posed well, but her viviacious personality came through in every shot. On top of that, she lasted a full 2 hours of constant shooting. Which, according to even some of the “child-only” photographers I know, is a world record. We’re looking forward to more shoots with her as she grows and I’m sure they’ll be as successful as this one.

Kenny, Stephanie and Reed

Recently, I did a shoot for someone I’ve known more than 20 years. Kenny and I grew up near each other on the south side of town. Kenny and Stephanie have always been some of my favorite people. It was really a great feeling to reconnect with them for this shoot after so many years. Shooting their family was such a smooth experience. The whole family is full of life and humor. They are all extremely photogenic as well, as you can see in the pictures. Stephanie is pregnant and I’m waiting for some new newborn shots!

Btw, you might notice a different watermark on pictures now. We’re experimenting with a different watermark for our online pics that take up less space aren’t quite as distracting.
