Photography, to me, is the best of artistic mediums.  In the snap of a shutter, you can capture not just an image but an encapsulated moment in a life.  Photography legend, Henri Bresson once said that a good photograph is one that captures “The Decisive Moment” and I believe he was right.  My philosophy as a photographer is to simply watch for the decisive moment and capture it.  As an ordained minister, my life’s work has been to connect with people, from every culture and walk of life.  Everytime I put the camera to my eye I try to do so with the attitude that everyone has something beautiful to show and share.  I merely wish to capture them as that beauty and vivacity comes out.  That fact holds true whether I am overseas in a third-world country photographing people on the street or shooting an intimate family picture here at home.

Because I am a minister professionally, photography for me is a true labor of love.  It’s never been about the financial bottom line or professional advancement, insteads it is about taking a picture that tells a story, brings out emotion and captivates the viewer.

Christian O’Dell Photography specializes in portrait work but we are available for nearly all your photographic needs.  Corporate, events, engagements, maternity, family and senior pictures are just a few areas we can name that we are experienced in and available for.

I live in the midwestern United States with my wonderful wife and daughter.  They are both my muses.

I do not wish to bore you with words, I prefer to allow my pictures to speak for themselves.  I hope these pictures bring you the same joy viewing them as they did to me in taking them.
